Reflection
Dubai, like many cities is a busy place. People come and go. And for many, the weeks, months, or years just fly by. Perhaps you sit down at the end of the weekend and wonder where the time has gone, or worse, you dread the upcoming week. I have certainly fallen into this pit previously, and found myself constantly chasing my tail to keep up.
So, I started to reflect. Like, properly reflect. Every week, at some point, I sit and look back on my prior week and ask myself a few questions about how it went. I then plan out the coming week with some necessary adjustments. Yes, I am fortunate enough to have the flexibility to manage my time how I see fit, and I am no longer chained to a desk for 8+ hours a day. But arguably I was never chained to a desk, I just simply thought I was for those years of corporate life.
Either way, reflection has been a game changer for me. From my running, to my work, to processing my thoughts and feelings, and identifying where I want certain progress in my life. Sometimes I type it out, sometimes I scribble through a book, sometimes I make a list, and sometimes I share with someone else. Like most things in life, there is no right or wrong way to reflect. But I noticed that burying my head in the sand, and just mindlessly cruising through another week was not exactly helping me achieve.
So, I challenge you, this weekend…take a glance back and a look forward. There is something pretty satisfying about it.
