The Stretch Zone
Sit in your comfort zone the entire time, and you might notice things don’t tend to progress too much. Alternatively whack yourself out of your comfort zone and you might get that initial dopamine hit, but potentially followed by a crash back to reality as you feel things spin out of control.
May I introduce you to, The Stretch Zone. That little spot that sits between in and out of comfort. It pushes you, but doesn’t intimidate you. It excites you, but doesn’t create sleepless nights of worry. Gently nudging you along, day by day, until after a stack of consistency you can look back and realise just how far you have come.
How to find it? My advice is to only change 1 or 2 variables at a time. Keep something familiar, be it people, timings, or environment.
You can play with the stretch zone from training, to racing, to careers and beyond. Zoom out to see the big picture, then zoom in to where sits simply just outside of your comfort; head there!
