A Typical Session at Ladies Run Club
Perhaps you have been following the Ladies Run Club (LRC) journey for a while. Or perhaps you are new here. Either way, if you have never attended a session, you might be wondering how the hour unfolds.
While there are some variables in the week such as locations or workouts, our Monday - Friday classes follow a pretty similar format.
Firstly, we start on time. Your coach will have communicated the starting time and location with you ahead of the session. Simply turn up and introduce yourself.
At the designated start time (usually 5:59), your coach will brief the session from the whiteboard, and chat through any scaling options where necessary. From there the coach will host a group warm-up. Which usually involves some light jogging, dynamic stretches, and strides. (Read more about strides here). The briefing and warm-up usually takes 10-15 mins depending on the session.
From there you will be shown the designated running route for the session (these are usually a loop, so that no one is left behind). You then simple complete the session from the whiteboard, either taking it at your own pace, or buddying up with a fellow runner for accountability. After a couple of sessions most runners naturally discover who is a similar pace.
Our sessions are complete within the hour; unless previously communicated e.g. weekend long runs. We usually conclude with a chat, stretch, walk and/or coffee. Lucky for us we have great coffee at Smith St Cafe post our Monday and Wednesday sessions. There are also showers and changing facilities on our Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday sessions.
